Welcome to AEGEE4Rio

Rio+20.

... The biggest UN summit ever …
... Hundreds of world leaders and negotiators ...
... Thousands of civil society delegates, youth, and activists ...
... Millions preparing for the summit and following the action in Rio online ...
... Billions of people, across the planet, depending on the outcomes of this conference ...

Rio+20.

Not just a conference.

Rio+20, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, will be a conference like no other before it. This deserves AEGEE's attention like no other — before, during, and after the conference. This is why we created AEGEE4Rio.

AEGEE4Rio is the umbrella name for a number of events and actions, with the mission to introduce the themes and process of Rio+20 into AEGEE, and build a strong and representative AEGEE delegation for Rio+20.

So what will we be doing?

LEARN — With this first post, we are launching our online campaign. In this campaign, we will be providing you with information on Rio+20 and sustainable development. We will be looking at the current state of our food, water, and energy consumption and production, and how these are affected by climate change and population growth.
But we will also be talking about (possible) solutions — the green economy, sustainable development goals, and education for sustainable development.

SHARE — Since the very successful kick-off at the EBM in Izmir, we have continued to work on more workshops, in collaboration with EnWG, for the Agora in Enschede.

DISCUSS — With every post on our website, we want to encourage you to take part in the discussion. Also on Facebook and Twitter the conversation will go on, with controversial statements and interesting opinions from youth around the world.

ACT — The last part of our campaign will deal with YOUth participation. Of course, we will not just talk about this, but actually DO it. At the end of May we are planning an event with AEGEE-Amsterdam, where you can learn all about youth participation and advocacy. We are also organising two student simulations of the Rio+20 summit: Enschede+20 and Rotterdam+20.
And at the end of June we will be taking an AEGEE delegation to Rio de Janeiro for the real thing!
